China, Brazil reach deal to de-dollarize trade




The deal will enable China, the top rival to US economic hegemony, and Brazil, the biggest economy in Latin America, to conduct their massive trade and financial transactions directly, exchanging yuan for reais and vice versa instead of going through the dollar.

Russian influx drives up rental prices in Dubai




Russian cash has been the biggest factor driving up demand for real estate, both in terms of buying and leasing, since the outbreak of the Ukraine war last year, according to Katie Burnell, associate director at Savills Middle East, based in Dubai.


It has emerged as a haven for wealthy Russians including oligarchs, billionaires and start-up founders. Many young Russian nationals have also moved to the glitzy city looking for new employment opportunities.

Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing chatbot may get advertisements




In a blog post(Opens in a new window), Microsoft says it recently met with some of its ad partners on “exploring ideas” to distribute their content on the ChatGPT-powered Bing. The goal is to do so in “meaningful” ways to drive traffic and revenue.

Airlines want to erase borders in the sky to make flights quicker




But the current system is not as efficient as it could be. National borders apply in the sky, meaning planes pass through a patchwork of 27 different air traffic control jurisdictions.


The fragmented airspace means that planes do not always fly the most efficient routes. On average, planes fly 49 kilometres further than strictly necessary, the EC estimates.

Australia makes biggest carbon polluters curb emissions




Set to take effect July 1, the reforms create a ceiling on the nation's emissions and force Australia's 215 most polluting facilities to reduce their emissions by 4.9 per cent a year or reach the target with carbon credits.


The laws create Australia's first price on carbon since a former Labour government created a carbon tax in 2012.

FIFA: Indonesia stripped of right to host Under-20 World Cup




Indonesia is the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation and does not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel, while publicly supporting the Palestinian cause.


Earlier this month, protesters marched in the capital Jakarta waving Indonesian and Palestinian flags and demanding Israel not be allowed to participate.
