COVID-19 could become ‘just like flu’ says WHO chief




The UN health agency earlier voiced confidence that it will be able to declare an end to the emergency sometime in 2023, saying it was increasingly hopeful about the pandemic phase of the virus coming to a close.


Last weekend marked three years since the WHO first described the situation as a ‘pandemic’ although the organization’s chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, insists countries should have acted several weeks beforehand.

Ecuador is particularly prone to earthquakes. In 2016, a quake centered farther north on the Pacific Coast in a more sparsely populated area of the country killed more than 600 people.

French nuclear giant Orano to explore potential of uranium deposit in Niger




One of the world's less advanced countries, Niger is also home to one of the planet's biggest sources of uranium, the main source of nuclear fuel.


The Imouraren project, some 80 kilometres south of the town of Arlit, was put on hold in 2015 after the price of uranium collapsed following the 2011 Fukushima disaster in Japan.

Kuwait court nullifies 2022 vote, reinstates previous parliament
