Zelensky snubs Russia as he addresses 'G19' at G20




Russia is a member of the G20, but President Putin is not in Bali, sending his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov instead.


Mr. Zelensky also advocated an extension of a soon-to-be-expired Ukrainian grain export agreement.


In his speech, Zelenskyy said: “I am convinced that now is the time when the Russian war of destruction must and can be stopped.”


He outlined a number of strategies including ensuring nuclear and food safety, ending hostilities and preventing escalation.


He repeatedly addressed the heads of state and government as “G19”, excluding Russia.

Trump ally Kari Lake loses in Arizona governor race




The closely fought governor’s race between Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs was one of the most significant in the general election because Arizona is a battleground state and is expected to play a pivotal role in the 2024 US presidential election.


Lake’s loss is the latest defeat for a series of candidates endorsed by Trump, who on Tuesday is expected to announce another White House bid.


After the Arizona governor race was called, Hobbs wrote on Twitter: “Democracy is worth the wait”. Lake expressed disdain for the election calls, tweeting that “Arizonans know BS when they see it”.

Amazon 'prepares mass job cuts' as sales slow




The company had already introduced a hiring freeze and halted some of its warehouse expansions, warning it had over-hired during the pandemic. It has also taken steps to shut some parts of its business, cancelling projects such as a personal delivery robot.


Last week, the company said that reducing expenses would be a focus in its annual review of business operations.


“As part of this year’s review, we’re of course taking into account the current macro-environment and considering opportunities to optimize costs,” the company said in a statement then.

Nigerian monarch shot dead inside palace




The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abattam, confirmed the incident, local media reports.


The gunmen visited the palace in Oguta under the guise of reporting an emergency situation before opening fire.


It was not immediately clear why the monarch, Eze Ignatius Asor, was targeted in the attack on Monday ( November 14).

Albanese says Xi meeting positive and constructive




Anthony Albanese has spoken after a historic meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 Summit in Indonesia.


The Prime Minister characterised the conversation as a “very positive and constructive discussion”, with the meeting the first between an Australian leader and Mr Xi since 2019.


The Prime Minister said that it was another “important step towards the stabilisation of the Australia-China relationship”.

Israel calls US probe into journalist killing a 'mistake'




Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz has said that he would not cooperate with a US investigation into the shooting death of a Palestinian-American journalist, likely at the hands of an Israeli soldier.


Politico reported that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation was probing the May 11 killing of Shireen Abu Akleh during an Israeli army operation, an extraordinary move that came after the army refused to prosecute the soldier who may have shot her.


The FBI refused to confirm or deny the investigation.


But Gantz said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) would not cooperate.
